“Fear is uncomfortable, it calls us to be alive near another living being, to not be nor talk elsewhere, to not be distracted.”
Chandra Livia Candiani, Silence is a living thing
Second chapter of a project started in 2019, EVE # 2 investigates the theme of fear (and the censorship of fear) through the telling of an autobiographical story. Paolo, a friend and contemporary of the author, no longer leaves his mother's house due to a personal story that has led him to close in on himself.
After many years of silence, Filippo decides to cross the stage space to recall his friendship with Paolo, reconstructing the geography of an ancient and decisive affection. The personal memories of when they were kids are intertwined with the pop culture of the 90s, and just when adolescence is bringing them to the apex of closeness, Paolo begins to drift away, more and more disoriented and hurt by life.
Performance is an attempt to re-appropriate a relationship that has been suspended for too long in the possibility of annihilation. The performer desperately tries to restart a dialogue with the present, using the fragments of memory and the interaction with the video projection, a spatial extension of the performative story. To exorcise his own helplessness, Filippo stages a final transformation of the stage space and accompanies the viewer towards a reflection on the possibility of listening to the pain and fear of those who are excluded from the flow of life, trapped in a slow process of darkening.
