Between Me and P. è un lavoro autobiografico che nasce dalla radicale esigenza di riappropriazione di una storia famigliare.
Pietro sparì volontariamente nel 1987 all’età di 22 anni, senza lasciare tracce. Dopo venticinque anni Filippo, il fratello minore, ha avviato una lunga ricerca per tentare di avvicinarsi a lui e capire cosa lo portò alla decisione di sparire. La ricerca è un tentativo di portare luce su un’assenza silenziosa e pervasiva, e la sua elaborazione scenica è una possibilità di trasmettere una storia che parla profondamente al presente individuale e collettivo.
Between Me and P. is an autobiographical work that rises from the strong need to take back hold of a true family story.
Pietro disappeared voluntarily in 1987 at the age of 22, leaving behind no traces. After twentyfive years Filippo, his younger brother, started a long research aimed at approaching his figure and understanding what brought him to the decision to disappear. The research is an attempt to cast light on a silent and pervasive absence, and its scenic elaboration is a chance to tell a story that speaks deeply to our individual and collective present.

Attraverso la penombra e la luce del videoproiettore, Between Me and P. crea un dialogo tra i materiali visivi e audio di un archivio, le elaborazioni video dell’artista e la sua presenza scenica.
Filippo siede a una scrivania e opera sul computer, lo scanner e sui materiali contenuti in un faldone, mentre il pubblico segue la narrazione attraverso la videoproiezione che riproduce lo schermo del computer. Questa mostra testi che vengono digitati, finestre dell’archivio digitale, file audio e video che contengono fotografie scattate da Pietro, testimonianze rilasciate da amici e parenti, riprese e montaggi dell’artista in scena. Un ritratto di Pietro è tracciato passo dopo passo, emergono aspetti divergenti della storia e la decisione di lasciarsi tutto alle spalle diventa più leggibile.
Nel corso della narrazione Filippo dispone sul pavimento oggetti provenienti dall’archivio: stampe d'epoca, libri e altri materiali sono usati per costruire lo spazio in cui proverà, come atto finale di un rituale, a riportare nel corpo ciò che a lungo è stato celato nella quotidianità.
Through half-light and the projector’s light, Between Me and P. creates a dialogue between the visual and audio materials of an archive, the video processing by the artist and his scenic presence.
Filippo sits behind a desk and operates on the computer, the scanner and on the materials contained in a big folder, while the audience follows the narration through the projection which reproduces the computer screen. It shows texts being typed, windows of the digital archive, video and audio files that contain pictures taken by Pietro, testimonies given by friends and family members, footage and editings by the artist. A picture of Pietro is outlined step by step, ajar aspects of the story come out and his decision to leave everything behind becomes readable.
Throughout the performace Filippo sets on the ground objects coming from the archive: vintage pictures, books and other materials are used to build the scenic space in which he will try, as the final act of a ritual, to bring back to the body what was long hidden in daily life.
